The Law of Attraction – how it really works!
What is the Law of Attraction?
Whether you’ve heard of it or not, the Law of Attraction is affecting your life so you may as well get to know it!
It goes by many names and, as with most concepts, it’s definition can change depending on who you talk to. According to Wiki, “in the New Thought philosophy, the Law of Attraction is the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person’s life. The belief is based on the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from pure energy, and that through the process of like energy attracting like energy a person can improve their own health, wealth, and personal relationships.”
This is where some people start to lose interest… and fair enough! I don’t think this intro really does it justice. It’s not complete. But let’s not give up on Wiki just yet…
“Advocates of this mind-power paradigm generally combine cognitive reframing techniques with affirmations and creative visualization to replace limiting or self-destructive (“negative”) thoughts with more empowered, adaptive (“positive”) thoughts. A key component of the philosophy is that in order to effectively change one’s negative thinking patterns, one must also “feel” (through creative visualization) that the desired changes have already occurred.”
Now we’re getting somewhere!
It’s not just positive thinking. I think that’s where it gets a bad rap. This idea can leave some people stranded somewhere between wishing things would get better and sticking their head in the sand. And finally, in frustration, announcing that the Law of Attraction doesn’t work!
But it’s about your thoughts and your feelings. It’s about your self-talk, your habits and perceptions, and your beliefs and focus.
It’s about aligning our mind, heart and spirit in the same direction to achieve some powerful results.
Positive thoughts on their own won’t get you where you want to be.
You can’t think it’d be great to be fit and healthy, without addressing your habits and beliefs that have you grabbing for those unhealthy snacks when you’re running out the door or sitting up late to finish a project due tomorrow. You can’t hope for that promotion at work, when you’re not sure you believe you really deserve it. Expecting that it might happen, but not really quite sold. Or when it doesn’t – thinking that the Law of Attraction doesn’t work.
It does. And it did.

So how does the Law of Attraction work?
The first principle of the Law of Attraction is that you must align your thoughts (mind), your feelings or emotions (heart), and your beliefs (soul). I know it sounds easier said than done, but I take you through this step by step in my how to use the Law of Attraction post.
The second principle is that you must act! You can’t just “think” your life into reality, you have to manifest your thoughts into action, believing with every fibre in your being that you will get the outcome you are chasing.
Pushing forward with persistence and consistency.
Not only does this support your visualisations, reinforcing the feeling that this outcome will happen, but you will see over time the power of consistently facing and moving in one direction. When we get side-tracked or start to doubt ourselves, our path can begin to zigzag all over the place.
Truly, if you choose a direction and keep moving one foot in front of the other in that same direction you will get there!
And once you have a few achievements under your belt, you’ll realise that you can get to your destinations faster and faster. The more you work with the Law of Attraction and see how powerful it can be, the more successful you will become at using it to create your best life.
