Procrastination setting in? These six quotes can help you get back on track (get ready, they’re powerful!).

Procrastination setting in? Quotes to help you.

Let’s jump right in!

Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.

Napolean Hill

Yep, that’s right. Napolean knew it, Nike knew it – just do it. And you know, it’s not just about procrastination. There’s three good reasons why you should just jump in boots ‘n’ all.

The first is this, a thought not expressed in action, is just that. A thought. It’s not reality yet. Sure, everything is energy, including thoughts, but for it to be your real, manifested life, it needs to be put into action. And it’s easy to get stuck in the planning stage. So if you’ve got your Pinterest board all sorted, your vision boards set up, your logos, your diet plan, or your blog posts drafted up… don’t stop there! Take the next step.

Do it!

The second reason is that perfection is the enemy of progress. Perfection, particularly when you are creating something, is unattainable. And I don’t just mean creativity as in an artist or musician, I mean anything we bring forth into the world. Anything we have imagined, and put into action is creative.

Creativity is like a moving, breathing thing. It wants to be expressed.

And lastly, when we take that first step on a journey, you can’t see the last one. You might not even be able to see the third one. Things change and evolve all the time in our lives and the path may turn a direction we never even expected, but is far better than our original plan.

But you can’t get there if you don’t take the first step.

We won’t be distracted by comparison if we are captivated by purpose.

Bob Goff

Focus. It’s so important, it shapes our lives. Needless to say, comparison is taking up way too much of our time at the moment, and is one of the downsides of social media. But when we point ourselves in the right direction and focus on what lights us up, it’s a whole different landscape out there.

There’s that old story about the lady who decided to buy a red convertible sports car, and once she makes this decision she suddenly starts seeing them everywhere. She wasn’t paying attention before, so she didn’t notice them, although they were always there. What are you focused on? Are you looking at everyone else to see what they’re up to? Or are you focusing on what you can create in this beautiful world of ours.

The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.

Socrates

Socrates knew what he was talking about! This is one of those situations that it’s not until you do it, that you realise that is doesn’t feel like what you expected it to feel. Often when we are faced with change or new opportunities are presented to us, we are fearful that we will be choosing to turn away from the old, giving up the things we find comfortable. But in reality, when you do focus your energy in a new direction , the old fades away. It just falls to the side and is no longer a consideration, or even a thought.

If you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit.

Banksy

How often do we quit? How often do we say this is too hard, too big? I can’t do it.

Imagine if rather than turning back to our old ways, we stay facing the same direction, but just pause. Tim Ferriss (author of 4-hour Work Week) talks about recognising our own rhythms. Recognising when we are in creative mode and when we are not. Because we are just not always flowing creative energy. Sometimes, like the garden in winter, we need to just stop and rest our energies.

Fate whispers to the wolf; “you cannot withstand the storm’ and the wolf whispers back, ‘I am the storm’.

Anon.

This one just speaks to me. Full stop. If I could choose my animal spirit (which I’ve thought about a lot because my daughter asks me on a regular basis – mum, if you had three animal spirits what would they be, mum, if you have two super powers what would they be, mum)… it would be the wolf.

I like to keep this quote pinned on my pinterest boards front and centre because it helps me to tap in easily to my wild side. To my fierceness.

Whether in life we are meek and quiet, or outgoing and loud, we all have a depth to us that goes further than we know. Further than we ever need to find out. And when the storm is coming and we are reaching down into it our reserves, rather than finding the bottom, we find instead our connection to the all. And this is when we realise we are the storm. The power, the energy, the magnitude is inside each and everyone of us.

And finally –

In three words, I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.

Robert Frost

Look, whether it’s a good day, a bad day, or you just feel like it’s been a long hard slog, a bit of perspective can be just what you need. In life, we have many more questions than answers. It can be tricky to know if you’re on the right path. And to have faith in all our decisions along the way. But Robert Frost is quite right. Life goes on. And tomorrow is a brand new, sparkly day. So take some time to yourself, breathe in, breath out and smile. You got this.
